On-line Diagnostics of Power Oil Transformers

MOSAD®-MST diagnostic system

MOSAD®–MST monitoring system has been designed for early  on-line diagnostics of oil transformers failures at power plants, including nuclear ones. The system is featured by modular open architecture allowing to modify the range of monitored parameters accordig to the specific transformer. The system provides a clear information on a progressing transformer defect in its early stage. In the event of a transformer defect or failure, the system records the failure evolution.

Parameters being monitored by MOSAD®–MST system

  • Gasses dissolved in oil and oil moisture by using a proper analyser.
  • Current, voltage, power.
  • Changes of capacitance and dissipation factor of a transformer bushing.
  • Switching and atmospheric overvoltage.
  • Short circuit currents.
  • Partial discharges.
  • Transformer oil temperature in various points of the transformer including cooling loops.
  • Switches – status and time recording of switching.
  • Binary parameters of control, signal and protective circuits.

MOSAD®–MST outputs

  • Monitoring and storage of values of the directly measured and derived parameters.
  • Representation of parameter values indicating an actual condition.
  • Generation of time sequences of the directly measured and derived parameters.
  • Hot-spot calculation model.
  • Thermal power balance model with an energy flow check.
  • Alarms on exceeding pre-set threshold.

On-line diagnostic system MOSAD®-MST for Oil Transformers

Development, manufacturing, implementation and operating of MOSAD®-MST system, which is used for on-line diagnostics of the oil transformers. The system provides information on the transformer conditions and potential developing malfunction. The system functions include measurement of selected parameters (gas concentration dissolved in the oil, currents, voltages, power, capacitance, overvoltage, temperatures, partial discharge, etc.), visualisation of actual and historical data, temperature model, alarm system and the self-diagnostics.
