TSO Services

TES provides TSO (Technical Support Organization) services to national nuclear regulators to assist them in achieving the highest possible level of nuclear safety and security within licensing and commissioning of plant upgrades. As a private company providing TSO services we are committed to the principle of independence from owners, operators, vendors and regulatory authorities and we undertake to maintain the highest level of expertise in nuclear safety. We also share our long standing experience in commissioning and operation of VVER reactors with regulators and government bodies in countries embarking on a nuclear power programme.

Within TSO services we focus on:

  • Computational support
  • Independent Expert Reviews
  • Regulatory Documentation

Computational support

Regulatory requirements may demand to perform independent verification and assessment of computational safety analyses submitted by the plant operator. We make use of our portfolio of advanced computational thermohydraulic and neutronic codes, which have been approved by the State Office for Nuclear Safety (SÚJB). Our plant and/or system models have been validated against data from real-life NPP operation and data from start-up tests as well as data from relevant experimental facilities.

Independent expert reviews

We provide expert consultations and independent reviews on specific topics using our in-depth knowledge of subject matter and state-of-the-art evaluation approaches.

The main topics we deal with are as follows:

  • Long-term Operation (LTO)
  • Aging Management
  • IAEA International Generic Ageing Lessons Learned (IGALL)
  • Time Limited Ageing Analysis (TLAA), Ageing Management Review (AMR), Ageing Management Programmes (AMP)
  • Strategies of maintenance
  • Comparative analysis of testing procedures
  • Review of licensing documentation (Periodic Safety Review, Safety Analysis Report)
  • Technological equipment installation and upgrading projects
  • Feasibility of equipment design modifications and their impacts

Regulatory documentation

We assist the regulatory authority to prepare regulatory documentation, integrating our knowledge of plant operation, design documentation and accident management with best international knowledge and practices. This continuous effort ensures that the national nuclear legislation framework is harmonized with the requirements of the international organizations like IAEA, WENRA, OECD, Euratom, etc.
